(19th Century) Unknown Artist American Painting
April 19, 1842-1925) was a Norwegian-American painter who was active in the Chicago area around the turn of the century. He was born at Kristiansund, Norway and served as an apprentice to a painter and decorator. When he was in his late twenties he studied at Johan Fredrik Eckersberg's academy of painting in Christiania (now Oslow), Norway. Hammerstad emigrated to the U.S. in 1869 and settled in Chicago, Illinois. He is considered to be the first professional painter of Norwegian birth in the Midwest. In the 1870's, the fine arts among Norwegian-Americans developed in urban centers including Chicago, Minneapolis, and Seattle. He was primarily known as a landscape painter, but also occasionally depicted such subjects as buffalo and boats. His works are characterized by realism and a striking use of light and color. Many were sold to Chicagoan's to adorn their Victorian homes. His works still come up for sale with some frequency. Art by Hammerstad is among the holdings at the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa.

(1888-1949) Elliot Brooks was a self-taught artist, studying art on his own after possibly being introduced to painting by William Steeple Davis, Harry Roseland or James Knox, all living in Orient. Initially, he painted small marine paintings. Eventually, he skillfully executed local landscapes and seascapes. Brooks' early, naive paintings, imbued with a charming folk art quality, gave way to sophisticated seascapes as his style became more refined. His prolific career includes a gift to the public: The "Indian Rocks". These carved boulders, found near the Brown Hills Sound shoreline, feature the likenesses of Native Americans. E.A. Brooks often painted with fellow Peconic Bay Impressionists, Caroline Bell, Annie Young, Madeline Bassarear, Clara Howard, Marguerite Hawkins and Rachel Beebe.
( 1844 – 1905) was an Italian painter of landscapes and orientalist scenes.
Corrodi was born in Frascati (an alternate source lists his birthplace as Zurich) and lived for many years in Rome." Corrodi studied at the Academy of St Luke under his father, Salomon Corrodi (1810–1892) and in Paris (1872).
Corrodi received commissions for history paintings from the British royal family. He was acquainted with most of the European royalty of the time, including a friendship with Queen Victoria, and traveled widely in the Far East, including Egypt, Syria, Cyprus and Istanbul, which provided the subject matter for many of his paintings.

(Born 1948) Stephano was born in Inchon, Gyunggi-do. His passion for art was evident at a very young age and soon he became the student of many prominent artists. He developed his impressionistic technique and color tone and set out to master the uncompromising medium of oil painting. His brushwork allows subtle harmony that speaks of the perfect mastery of his art. For decades he has painted landscapes inspired by studies of Southern France and Great Britain. His images are never literal transcriptions of what he has seen. Instead they focus more on the memory of a landscape than the actual experience. Stephano found in the countryside the inspiration that ignited his longstanding passion for painting. Now he works in his own studio to create the charm and poetry of the Old World countryside with the influence of master works by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Gustave Courbet.
